MISSION & VALUES

Mission & Values

EBC is a local assembly of disciples of Jesus Christ who gather to worship Him and accomplish His work.

We exist to honor Jesus Christ and uphold His great name, directing our love, appreciation and attention to Him in everything we do.

OUR MISSION

Through prayer, and everyone doing their part we will fulfill our mission of helping people become growing devoted disciples of Jesus Christ and fully engaged members in our church, community, country, and beyond.

OUR VISION

Vision is a seeing word.

Our vision is the clear, challenging picture of the preferable future of Emmanuel Baptist church as we believe it can and must be. God has a clear vision for our church to fulfill that will help us accomplish our purpose and mission best. Here is what we see God doing at Emmanuel:

We see our church “Growing Together” Upward, Inward, and Outward!

2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.” God is helping us grow upward, in our relationship with Him, inward, in our relationship with others in our church family, and outward, in our reaching others with the Gospel! Come and grow with us!

 OUR STRATEGY

To fulfill our mission and vision, we seek to lead people to take their next steps in their journey of being a disciple of Jesus and an active member of the church family with these steps:

  1. Know Jesus Christ as YOUR Savior and Lord.
  2. Grow a daily relationship with Jesus Christ.
  3. Show your appreciation for what Jesus has done for you through your personal commitment to follow Jesus and your contributions as a church family member.
  4. Go and tell others about Jesus and invite and bring them to church.
  5. Improve the quality and effectiveness of our church by building a church of ministry teams–one team per ministry.

OUR VALUES

We Value Jesus Christ

Our church is committed to keep Jesus Christ at the head of our church and we gladly submit ourselves and all activities to His will and good pleasure. It is Jesus Christ whom we love, serve, worship, and praise, and it is Christ who receives all glory for all successes and victories our church enjoys (Eph 1:22-23; Rev 4:11).

We Value the Bible

Our church is committed to the teaching and preaching of the Word of God. The Bible is our final authority for our faith and ministry. The Bible is timeless and timely, relevant to the common needs of all people for all times and to the specific problems of present day living. It is the teaching and preaching of the Bible that changes lives for all of eternity (II Tim 3:16).

We Value Evangelism

Our church is committed to reaching unchurched lost people with the gospel of Jesus Christ through relevant evangelistic sermons, passionate outreach ministries, and by developing personal relationships with the unchurched (Matt 28:19-20).

We Value Worship

Our church is committed to authentic worship of our God by acknowledging the supreme value and worth of our God in our personal lives and in the corporate worship of our church (Ps 95:1-6; Matt 4:10; John 4:23-24; Acts 2:42-47).

We Value Discipleship

Our church is committed to disciple and train new believers in Christ through small group ministry. Through discipleship new believers will learn biblical principles, helping them to become fully functioning followers of Christ (Acts 2:41-42; Acts 18:22-23).

We Value Service

Our church is committed to help new members get assimilated into the local church. This is accomplished by helping them discover their unique spiritual gifts and to guide them into a ministry where their spiritual gifts, life experience, and desires will be best utilized. (Rom 12:1-2; I Cor. 12:1-28).

We Value Prayer

Our church is committed to private prayer in our daily lives and corporate prayer in the conception, planning, and execution of every ministry and activity of the church (Matt 7:7-11; Luke 18:1).

We Value Fellowship

Our church is committed to provide opportunities to build lasting relationships, and to enjoy fellowship with other believers through both church wide and ministry specific activities and gatherings. It is here that members of our church and visitors can enjoy life together (Acts 2:42-44; 14:27-28).

We Value Sunday School

Our church is committed to provide the opportunity for all members and visitors to get connected to the church through the vehicle of the Sunday school and Adult Bible class programs. It is here that people will learn practical theological bible truths, principles, and values from the Word of God and will have opportunity to connect God, His Word, and with people in a relaxed friendly environment (Acts 2:44-46).

We Value Giving

We will accomplish our mission as God’s people pay their tithes and give offerings to him through the local church. Giving is one of the most tangible expressions of our faith. Members are encouraged to give generously and sacrificially as good stewards of Jesus Christ. God blesses all those who give (Matt 10:8; II Cor 8:1-12; Luke 6:38).

We Value Leadership

It is essential that we have an atmosphere where leaders can emerge, be recruited, trained, and placed in the ministry of our church. Good godly leaders are essential to the health and growth of our church (Eph 4:11, 12, 15, 16).

We Value Excellence

Since God gave His best (His Son Jesus) for us, our church is committed to honor Him by giving our best through a high standard of excellence in all our ministries, activities, and service (Col. 3:23-24).

OUR BELIEFS

In order to grow a strong healthy biblical church Emmanuel Baptist Church has been founded upon bedrock beliefs. These core beliefs are based upon the Word of God and will communicate clearly what our church believes.

These statements of faith do not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible is the sole and final authority and source of all we believe. The complete statement of faith can be found in a copy of our Bylaws and Constitution at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

We believe that the Holy Bible is the complete inspired Word of God as contained in the original manuscripts; that it is total truth without any error. The Bible is the sole and final authority of all we believe and practice (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21).

We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90); that in the unity of the Godhead (the Trinity), there are three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being equal in their nature, attributes, and perfections and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption and in the accomplishments of His eternal plan and purpose (I John 5:6-12).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is a divine person; eternal and equal with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit and of the same essence; that He was begotten of the Holy Spirit, and in miraculous manner; that He was born of Mary, a virgin, as no other person was ever born of a woman, and that He is both the Son of God and God the Son (I John 1:1-2). He is both true man, and true God, one person with two natures, tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin. We believe that His death was a substitutionary death for the appeasement of His Father, and for the sins of the whole world. We believe in His bodily resurrection, ascension, and pre-tribulation, premillennial return (John 3:16; Philippians 2:6-7; Luke 1:26-35; II Corinthians 5:21, I John 2:2; I Corinthians 15:3-4; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:1-10).

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; eternal and equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same essence (I John 5:7); that in the unbelieving world He restrains evil, and Satan, until God’s purpose is fulfilled; reproves the world of sin, of judgment, and of righteousness; that He bears witness of the truth of the Gospel in preaching, teaching, and testimony; that He is the agent in the new birth; that He seals, empowers, guides, teaches, bears witness with, sanctifies, and helps the believer (John 14:26; 16:7-11; Romans 8:14-27; Ephesians 3:16).

We believe that God created man (Adam) in innocence and in His own image, and by voluntary transgression, he sinned against God and fell from his sinless state of perfection (Genesis 3), in consequence of which, all born after Adam are now sinners, totally depraved, and therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse and are guilty before God and in need of salvation (Romans 5:12; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3).

We believe that the salvation of sinners (all mankind) is wholly of grace through the work of Jesus Christ the Son of God who by the appointment of the Father freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin and honored the divine law by His personal obedience and by His death on the cross made a full atonement for our sins; that His atonement was not merely an example but was the voluntary substitution. We believe that salvation, the gift of eternal life, is divinely initiated, is instantaneous, and not a process. It is wholly apart from works and is based upon faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and genuine repentance.

We believe in the eternal security and assurance of believers. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus eternally secure in Christ forever (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 38-39; I Corinthians 1:4-8). We also believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word, which, however clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to live a life of sin (Romans 13:13-14; Galatians 5:1; Titus 2:11-15).

We believe that the local New Testament church consists of an assembly of believers, who have been baptized by immersion, who have united together for the express purpose of fulfilling the “Great Commission” which consists of worship, evangelism, edification, fellowship, discipleship, and instruction. We believe that the officers of the Church are ordained pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures (I Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9). We believe that the Church observes two ordinances: baptism and the Lord’s Supper (communion), and that they have no saving power. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that Christ is the head of the Church and superintends over the work of the local church through the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:19-23).

We believe in the personal bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His church. Christ will rapture (catch up) all believers in the air to be with Him forever (I Thessalonians 4:15-17; I Corinthians 3:12-14).
